Spring Loud Shirt Double Tap Tournament

May 6 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

With the cold weather presumably heading for the hills, it’s time for the club’s first Saturday Double Tap Bocce tournament of the year. Play begins at 9 am, but entrants must arrive by 8:45 and draw a number to determine their placements for the day. Entrants new to Double Tap’s 2-pallino play should  arrive even earlier for familiarization with the rules. Should heavy precipitation be forecast, the event is subject to rescheduling.

This is a member-only event with the following two entrance fees.

1) In celebration of spring, a colorful/loud shirt worn visibly.

2) And $10. The combined sum will be redistributed among the top 4 finishers. You get to keep your shirt! Note that the format offers even newbies a reasonable shot at earning some cash.

This is a rotating partner, two-person team competition in which all entrants play four 45-minute games back-to-back with a different partner each game. All players draw a number before the start of first game. That number’s court assignments, 4 partners for the day, and opponents, can then be seen by consulting the posted chart.

The regular Double Tap rules (, as modified for team play using 6 balls (3 per team member, any order), apply. Games end at 12 points when the opposing team has no more chance to advance its score, or when time is called after 45 minutes (frames in play are allowed to finish).

Each player tallies their team’s point total as their individual score throughout the day. Every win earns a player one bonus point to add to their score. The overall win/loss record serves as a tiebreaker. At the end of play, the top 4 scores will share the prize money.

Sign up by contacting Erich. This format only accommodates even groups of four (meaning 8, 12, or 16) players. The entrant list will be filled in the order that registration requests are received. If, for example, you are the 9th player to sign up, your spot is not assured until at least 3 more players (for a total of 12 or more) register. Once on the list, it is critical that you show up to play, or send a substitute, so the tournament can proceed.
